Why choose us?

Haggonfields is a friendly village school in Worksop, recognised as ‘good’ by Ofsted (2011/12 &2015/16) with approximately 100 children on roll.

Ofsted describe our Early Years Foundation Stage unit as “ a vibrant, well-organised, well-staffed and well-managed environment”.  and describe lessons in all Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 classes as “…carefully thought out to help the pupils learn step by step. The teachers use various interesting topics and activities, which motivate the pupils well and help them to learn.

At Haggonfields we have an excellent track record of pupil progress, regardless of pupils’ starting points. We strive to provide pupils with small classes so that they are able to receive the highest possible quality of education from teachers who have a deep knowledge of each individual and the time to devote to their learning and wellbeing.

From Key Stage 1, we offer our pupils regular 1:1 mentoring meetings with their class teacher. This gives each child a chance to talk openly with their teacher about their work, their worries and their achievements. Through this process of assertive mentoring, teachers deepen their knowledge of the children and further develop positive relationships with each pupil.

Visitors to Haggonfields almost always comment on the positive atmosphere in school, the warm welcome they receive, and the polite courteous conduct of our children.

The senior leadership team are parents themselves, and this perspective brings extra focus to the natural worries faced by the parents of our pupils. Our pupil led teams of Anti Bullying Ambassadors and Corridor Cadets provide additional support and guidance to pupils at break times.

Our work is guided by and measured against our three core values:

  • Taking Pride
  • Growing in Confidence
  • Achieving our Best

The performance of our school is overseen by a team of dedicated governors who volunteer their time to give guidance, counsel, challenge and support to the senior leadership team. Governors regularly visit to meet with staff and pupils and as a result, have a prominent and positive role in the school. The Head Teacher provides governors with a detailed written report each term. Minutes of termly meetings of the governing body are on public display in school.

If you are currently considering which school would be right for your child, please arrange to make a visit.
