Chess Club

September 22nd, 2017 by

Our new chess club launched this week. The five lads who signed up came from EYFS, KS1 & KS2. A mix of new to chess and experienced chess players.

First off – a big thank you to Samuel who demonstrated a patient and kind approach to teaching some of the younger lads the basics. Samuel knows a fair bit about chess, but used his knowledge to support and teach rather than boast and conquer. It was lovely to see.

The younger lads were quick learners- both quoting their respective dads at various points.

“My dad said the Queen is the most powerful piece”, was my favourite line. Absolutely.

All in all, we had fun, which is what we came to do, and we built skills to develop in our next session. We will be skipping a week because Secret Agent James Boffin will be running a spectacular one-off science club next Wednesday…

Thank you to Mrs Ogley for donating three chess sets- we couldn’t have done it without you.

Football Update

September 21st, 2017 by

On behalf of Mr Saunders & Mrs Traci Ogley, and myself, I would like to say a big thank you to our footballers who braved the rain to perform admirably away against St Peter’s in Gringley. It was a good game with some solid skill and teamwork from our side.

Mr Saunders gives Mitchell a special mention. Mitchell bravely took on the role of goal keeper, and did a fantastic job this afternoon.

In the end, the score was 5-0 to the opposition, and we congratulate them for their win, and thank them for hosting us.

We would like to thank the parents, grandparents & siblings who came along to support the team and assist with transport. It was a very good turnout.

Finally, a mention for Thomas Ogley, who has increasingly played an instrumental role in coaching our young people each week.

After School Clubs

September 19th, 2017 by

Art & Craft club was well attended. The children used paper plates and lolly sticks to create a fan.

Mr. Saunders, Mrs. Ogley and Thomas held an extra training session for the team in advance of their match on Thursday.
